Dear Friends ,
I regret to advise you that my only brother Heracles – Leonidas Lalangaspassed away last month peacefully at a hospital in Athens at age 82, after suffering for about 2 years with dementia ( ania ). He leaves behind his French wife Jacqueline.
As some of you know, he was an economist and worked as financial officer in marine shipping companies in New York City and Monte Carlo.
He had received two degrees ( Bachelor’s & Master’s ) from the City University of New York.
He was a unique ideologist and writer, who wrote many articles in newspapers and magazines and two books in Greek in 2007 & ’08, which were published by
the University Studio Press of Thessaloniki or Salonica, his birthplace.
His first book was titled : “ Salonica – One Thousand Three Hundred Days” and was translated into English and published by Vantage Press of New York in 2012.
The book tells the gripping story of our family, during the German occupation in World War II.
The second book is titled: “ The Professor and other stories”, and describes many of Heracles life experiences.
The 40 day memorial service will take place on Saturday Sept. 26 at 11:30 am in the St. Andrew’s church in the Panorama cemetery of Voula in Athens.
As the Greeks say: Zoi se logous sas ( Life in You ),
Petros Lalangas
